Day 18. Just a small quirky conversation.

My evenings are mostly the same. Every day around six in the evening we get ready, I mean, me and Vihaan my seven year old cute Li’l brat, and go to our society park. Evenings are the best hours of the day in Devlali. I love the gentle and refreshing breeze which touches the body and soul as well to rejuvenate it to the core. The fresh and pure air unwinds me completely and invigorates for fighting the battles of remaining part of the day. Undoubtedly, this routine is something which both, me and Vihaan look forward to. The kids chirping and hopping like excited atoms pass on their energy even to the onlookers.

At times me and Vihaan indulge in academic talks when he finds something intriguing enough in the park to have a connect with his school curriculum. It was turning out to be an evening of the sorts. We just did the chapter on cultural diversities in India, in EVS (Environmental Studies).

Vihaan: Mom, see that new boy in the park. He looks like the one shown in the book.

Me: Yes, Vihaan. He is a Sikh boy.

Vihaan: Mom, they pray in gurudwaras right?

Me: Yes Vihaan.

Vihaan: Mom this one I remember because they look different, but for the others, it is so difficult.

Me: Baby, there are four major religions. Hindus who go to temple, Muslims in mosques, Sikhs in gurudwaras and Christians in church.

Vihaan: But there are others too right? All this is so confusing. Why can’t they all go to one place and pray. God is everywhere you said.

Me: Sweetheart it is not that easy. They are from different religions and don’t have same Gods.

Vihaan: So why God has to be different. You said God is one, now you are saying he is different for everyone. If we all are same then why our Gods are not? Let there be one God and one place of prayer so that there is no confusion.

Me: Vihaan God is, but one dear. How should I make you understand! You will know for yourself when you grow old.

Vihaan: If it had to be learned later then why is it in our chapter right now? I guess your concepts are still not clear mom. But as I see it, it is difficult to make out who is who, then why complicate things so much ma.

Me: Yeah, I guess my concepts are not clear. I wish things could be as simple as you said for everybody.

Day 17. Pearls of wisdom

When life knocks down, things don’t seem to be easy. Down with the feeling of complete bereavement, life’s blues cast an indelible shadow on us which looks like a never ending trail. On such a gloomy day if a piece of life saving advice, quote or saying touches our heart and soul, then they can be certainly called as pearls of wisdom.

On with the challenge of Blog Marathon, today , the 17th day, I dedicate it to my favourite quotes, my  pearls of wisdom. Hope they touch your life as they do mine.

So I will keep getting back with regular dosage of inspirational pearls of wisdom. Till then, Live, love and desire.

Day 16. I dare to dream

There are certain dreams which don't let you sleep and I say may they take away all from me. People who know me say I am a born dreamer and yes that’s true. This is what best describes me. Many years before, I dreamt to be a soldier and this one won’t let me sleep. When I cleared my SSB and till the time I joined the academy, I got completely fixated on donning the olive greens. This shade of green was the colour which looked the best on me which later on rose to become my way of life, my attitude of life. However, as I speak of dreams, this was my most possessed and obsessed dream and I desired it so deeply that I lived it later on. Although I called quits after living it gloriously for ten years, I am still part of the organization, only the role differs this time. And now my dreams have a reverence which is diametrically opposite. Read about my biggest dreams here. This is for the dreamer in me.

To my dreams,

You look so radiant, as never before,

With a snow white glow, as never before.

I blush today on your shore,

In your love tells me my chore.

The charisma prevails in the air

And tells my dreams to be my pair,

To show me the way and head to lay,

Where I will live them in every way.

I hold you tight until you are gone,

And live up for the love of the dawn.

Dream, because if you can’t dare to even that, for me that’s being in a life with no desires. Having desires and striving to achieve them, is all what life is about. So widen your horizons and design your life as you want it to be. Be a dreamer, be an achiever.

Day15. She's a 'Freedom Girl' don't you know?

Freedom Girl

Defying the laws,
Opposing the trends,
Breaking the norms,
What could you call her, but ‘Freedom Girl’.

I am free, don’t you know?
To change the world in a go.

I am born ‘free’, to live ‘free’,
When ‘who cares’ is my spree.
That’s why they say,
What could you call her, but ‘Freedom Girl!’

A ‘Freedom Girl?’
Yeah ! I am.
A free girl, born of fire,
Fire of agony and insurgence,
Rebel and revenge.
The rebelliousness, which makes them say,

She’s a ‘Freedom Girl’, don’t they say?

Day 14. School chalein hum.

Another girls day out loaded with fun, frolic and laughter. The occasion was the ladies meet which is our (Army) monthly gathering aka kitty party for ladies in civil. It is a platform to welcome new members and bid adieu to the ones moving out of the station. This purely ladies event helps in bonding together and develop camaraderie which helps us to be a pillar of strength for each other whilst our soldier husbands are away on duty and even otherwise. The format of this gathering differs from place to place but having a good time together is its quintessential element or rather the soul.

So here are snippets from this day of the month. The theme was 'Back to school'. Hope you have fun too watching us.

Day 13. Lipstick

Our arts teacher was famous for her choice of lipsticks and it was one of the most significant elements of her adornments. Colours splendidly defined her and majorly contained the vividness of her memories even today within me, much beyond the looks. Tomorrow is the school reunion and I am having a sleepless night as my excitement to see her has completely possessed my wild imagination, in fact I never slept well since that day. But now, in fact every year when I am here, there is no lady to be found emblazoned with the same signature vibrance and gloss. “There was a arts teacher once who charmed students with her enticing lipsticks but her vanity was short lived as one day she got targeted on a school reunion, by one of the students who killed her in an attempt to own her and later even hanged himself” someone said.

This post is written as part of this week's five sentence fiction for Lillie Mcferrin.
